Apple’s long-rumored OLED MacBook Pro redesign is looking more real by the day, and now we’ve got a firmer timeline. According to a new report, Samsung Display will begin production of OLED panels for the next-gen MacBook Pro by mid-2026, setting the stage for a late-year launch.
OLED MacBook Pro redesign enters production window
TheElec reports that Samsung will start manufacturing 14-inch and 16-inch OLED panels in the second quarter of 2026. These displays are reportedly headed for the M6 MacBook Pro, a model expected to feature a complete visual overhaul.
That timeline lines up with a Q4 2026 launch, likely October or November. Apple announced the M4 MacBook Pro in late October and shipped it in November.
OLED MacBook Pro redesign brings more than just a new screen
The upcoming M6 MacBook Pro is rumored to bring several major changes:
- A thinner and lighter chassis
- OLED displays with no notch
- Possibly 5G support
- Touchscreen capability (still unconfirmed)
Even if only some of those features make the cut, it would be the first true design shift since the 2021 MacBook Pro rework. That alone could drive serious interest from users who’ve held off upgrading.
Apple will release two MacBook Pros next year
Before the redesign, Apple is still expected to ship the M5 MacBook Pro in early 2026. That model will reportedly stick to the current design and serve as a basic spec bump. The real showstopper will arrive later in the year with the M6 version.
With panel production now confirmed by multiple sources, Apple’s OLED laptop shift is no longer a matter of if, it’s just a question of how far the redesign will go. Either way, the MacBook Pro is about to look very different.
